Oregon State went into Rice-Eccles Stadium hoping to down another ranked opponent. Instead, they leave losing 31-28 on a last-second game winning field goal by Utah kicker Louie Sakoda.

Midway through the fourth quarter, and leading 21-20, the Beavers marched the ball 80 yards for the touchdown followed by the point after. It seemed as though this was the icing on the cake for the Beavs to capture their second straight Thursday night upset of a ranked opponent.

However, Utah was able to answer with a touchdown of their own and a 2-point conversion for the tie.

On their next possession the Beavers were forced to go three-and-out. One first down would have likely sealed the victory, but Utah’s D stepped up when needed most.

With just over one minute remaining Utah was able to move the ball into field goal range and nailed the game winner.
