The No. 5 Arizona State Sun Devils are hot and sit atop the conference at 11-1. Their only loss was a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Missouri—a team they had just beaten two days prior during the DeMarini Invitational at Packard Stadium.
The Sun Devils are averaging just over nine runs a game while allowing their opponents only two runs per game.
Junior Jason Kipnis is leading the team with a .512 batting average. He’s played in all 12 of the Sun Devils’ games and has five home runs, 16 RBI’s along with a 1.023 slugging percentage. Kipnis is on fire to say the least.
On the mound the leader is Mike Leake. The junior right-hander is pitched 21 innings with 27 strikeout and four walks. His ERA is 0.43.
Oregon State has clawed their way to a 7-3 record and sits second amongst the Pac-10 teams.
Oregon has surprised many by keeping a steady pace with the rest of the conference and a 6-6 record, while Stanford has been a disappointment thus far at 3-7.
Here’s the complete conference standings:
| Team | Conf. | Pct. | Overall | Pct. |
| Arizona State | 0-0 | - | 11-1 | .916 |
| Oregon State | 0-0 | - | 7-3 | .700 |
| California | 0-0 | - | 8-4 | .667 |
| Arizona | 0-0 | - | 8-5 | .615 |

Bases: Bull Dogs avoid sweep, take one from Ducks.

After losing to the Ducks on Friday and Saturday, the Fresno State Bull Dogs were able to avoid the weekend sweep by defeating Oregon 10-3 on Sunday afternoon.
The Ducks were able to jump on the scoreboard first when Eddy Rodriguez scored from third base after the Bull Dogs pitcher fielded a ground ball and threw wide of the first baseman.
That lead didn’t last long, however.
At the top of the third inning Fresno State’s bats started to come alive. They were able to score six runs on five hits capped with om Mendonca knocking a three-run homer over right-center. Mendonca would later homer in the ninth for his second on the day.
For Oregon, Antony Kreitz homered in the bottom of the ninth, but the rally stopped there.
The Ducks’ left-hand pitcher Bennett Whitmore takes the loss giving up seven runs on six hits.
Today just was not the Ducks’ day, but they did win the weekend series with Fresno State by winning 2 out of three games.

What a difference a day can make. The Oregon Ducks’ offense really shined today as they defeated the 15th-ranked Fresno State Bulldogs 7-1 in the second game of the three-game weekend series.
The Ducks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back. Caleb Tommasini, Mitch Karraker, and Dylan Gavin each had two hits, and four more Ducks collected one.
On the mound today for the Ducks were Erik Stavert, Ryan Fleckenstein, and Madison Boer, respectively. Fresno State managed eight hits on the day, but the Oregon’s defense held the Bulldogs to only one run.
With the victory, the Ducks have won the weekend series. The final game is scheduled for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. PDT.
